Hanoi, Vietnam – August 14, 2025 – Viettel Group and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen their strategic collaboration, focusing on leveraging advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate digital transformation in Vietnam and the global market.
The signing ceremony took place at Viettel’s headquarters in Hanoi with the participation of senior leaders from both companies. This cooperation marks a new milestone in the relationship between Viettel—Vietnam’s largest telecommunications and technology corporation—and Qualcomm, one of the world’s leading technology companies specializing in wireless communications and semiconductor solutions.

Under the agreement, the two sides will:
- Research and apply AI and 5G technologies in telecommunications, smart cities, and industrial IoT solutions.
- Develop advanced AI-powered devices and platforms for multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, and transportation.
- Promote 5G network optimization and AI-based network management systems.
- Cooperate in R&D and technology transfer, enabling Vietnamese engineers to participate in global technology projects.
The cooperation aims to harness Qualcomm’s technological expertise and Viettel’s extensive market experience to deliver innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability in both Vietnam and international markets.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Tào Đức Thắng, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, said:
“This collaboration with Qualcomm will create breakthroughs in AI and 5G applications, contributing to Vietnam’s goal of becoming a regional technology hub. It will also help bring high-quality, made-in-Vietnam technology products to the world.”
Mr. Alex Rogers, President of Qualcomm Technology Licensing, emphasized:
“Viettel has been a long-standing and trusted partner of Qualcomm. By combining our strengths, we can accelerate the adoption of AI and advanced connectivity solutions, benefiting businesses and communities globally.”

This MOU builds upon years of successful cooperation between Viettel and Qualcomm, especially in deploying 4G/5G networks and developing telecommunications equipment. Moving forward, both parties will focus on practical projects that drive Vietnam’s digital transformation while contributing to global technology innovation.
Since 2009, the two companies have achieved several milestones:
- 2009: Qualcomm licensed chipsets to Viettel for producing the first “Made in Vietnam” 3G USB devices.
- 2017: Jointly developed a “Made in Vietnam” Wi-Fi Access Point with speeds three times faster and at only 70% of the cost of similar products.
- 2018: Viettel was granted rights to use Qualcomm’s patents to manufacture 3G/4G devices and co-developed the secure VIPPHONE for government and enterprise use.
